 Major Larry D. Spicer is the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor, Selma High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC), and Selma, AL. He has been responsible for the Selma High School AFJROTC program, his alma mater, since 1999. Major Spicer received his Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science at Troy State University, Troy, Alabama in 1977, where he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in The United States Air Force through the Senior ROTC program. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Human Resource Management from Central Michigan State University, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He has also completed the Air Force Academic Instructor School at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, where he received his AFJROTC teacher Certification in Aerospace Science. Major Spicer has over twenty years of service in the United States Air Force. While on duty he held numerous positions in the areas of missile operations/training, command control communications, ROTC instructor North Carolina A&T State University, command inspector, division chief and commander. Major Spicer garnered numerous military awards and decorations while on active duty. After retirement, he became a Probation and Parole officer in north St. Louis, Missouri and later as the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor at University City High School, St. Louis, Missouri. Since being at Selma High School his unit has been ranked twice as the Top AFJROTC unit in the State of Alabama, received ten Distinguished Air Force JROTC Unit Awards, One Distinguished Unit Award with Merit (the highest AFJROTC Unit Award), and three Outstanding Organization Awards. Major Spicer has twice received the Air Force JROTC Outstanding Instructor Award and holds Advanced Aerospace Science Instructor Certification.
