Principal's Corner

Principal's Message

Dear Saints Family,

As principal of Selma High, I would like to thank you for the opportunity, and to inform you that I believe in continuous improvement. Therefore, I share with you our focus/goals for the school year 2016-2017.

1.      Increasing ACT scores through a rigorous instructional program.

2.      Increasing literacy through vocabulary and writing.

3.      Increasing our graduation rate

We want to make sure that all of our students feel connected to Selma High School and that parent’s trust that we will work with them to provide the very best for all our students. I am well aware of the challenges that our families face as they shepherd their children toward adulthood. The faculty, staff, and I will work with you to help every student achieve college/career readiness.

This year, we have added two advance placement classes, an ACT Mastery Prep program daily to address and familiarize our students with the process. The implementation of a school-wide literacy program is also being implemented. We want to ensure that our students have every opportunity to demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.

We will seek to continue the many great traditions that have made so many past students of Selma High proud to say “Once a Saint Always a Saint” no matter how great our school is or how great it may become I will always seek to continually improve to meet the changing circumstances in a global society. The faculty, staff, and I owe you our very best. It is our responsibility to you and the young men and women you entrust to our care to help them to reach their fullest potential, both as students and citizens in our society.

It is hard to express how I feel to have the opportunity to serve as your Principal at Selma High School. I look forward to having the opportunity to serve the needs of our community, its families and their students.

Respectfully

Emma Theresa Alexander
